About Abiel

Born in Eritrea and raised in the Bay Area, Abiel Russom is a passionate storyteller and seasoned brand marketing professional. With a deep love for narrative and culture, Abiel brings award winning content to life for iconic brands, including FX Networks and The Walt Disney Company.

His work spans acclaimed scripted and documentary television series such as Shōgun, Alien: Earth, The Bear, Snowfall, Reservation Dogs, Welcome to Wrexham, Dear Mama, Necaxa, Mayans, What we do in the shadows and many more.

Prior to his time in the entertainment industry, Abiel began his career as an independent writer and director in the Bay Area, producing his debut film Balance. He followed that with his pilot episode The Embrace, which premiered in both Los Angeles and Oakland, California, earning high acclaim for its impactful storytelling.

As a proud Eritrean, Abiel uses his platform and creative work to amplify diverse voices. Across every role he has held, he remains deeply committed to prioritizing representation, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
